Roseville Pottery

Many Pottery manufacturers that are name brand notable share one common theme. What they make is unique to them and tends to be remembered that way. In other ways, while one company may lean to the design theme of a particular age another will stand out for its approach to color. Roseville pottery is an example of displaying pottery for its simplicity.

The makers of Roseville pottery see what they do as an extension of a quieter time in this country and that comes out in their works that speak to this rural theme. One of their more popular works for example is the Pinecone pattern. This wonderful work is pictures a simple pine branch with that lone pinecone on a blue background. The colors blend together to give the viewer a feeling of serenity and calm.

Roseville pottery captures these types of scenes and decor with colorful expression and adherence to detailed artistry. Roseville pottery began in 1890 and started with a trend towards simple unitarian functionalism. These included umbrella stands, cuspidors, simple stoneware, and other basic wares.

After a decade of this fashion, the company developed a high quality line of pottery with its Roseville Rozane line. The Rozane was a way to give the buyer a less costly choice from other high-end works by providing basic, solo color schemes or very minimalist designs. This attempt to bring to American homes a touch of art for those could not meet the higher prices that were on the market.

After another decade of this line of thought, the company knew it now could expand to reach a higher paying clientele and developed lines that increased their presence. Roseville was on a road to broad-based notoriety as their design themes and colors expanded to vary what they offered. As mentioned before the PineCone line was one of their more popular directions and became a staple for this company on the move up.

One of the amazing aspects of Roseville pottery is their inclination to be on target as to what their clientele desired. They never seemed to over extend into venues they felt were saturated. Roseville stayed clear in what they wanted to offer and it has worked for them in ways many companies never seem to grasp. Roseville pottery remains to this day a name that stands out.
